Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF)

The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is a fee that students are required to pay each teaching period. It provides funding for non-academic student services and amenities that support you through university. For more information about the SSAF, visit the Department of Education website.

After your census date has passed, the SSAF is final and cannot be refunded or waived.

How is my SSAF spent?

We use the SSAF funding to make contributions to sport and recreation activities, student clubs, health and wellbeing initiatives, employment and career advice, and amenities on campus (according to the University Council’s current allocation principles and the services allowed by the Australian Government).

How we distribute the SSAF

As of 2026, SSAF revenue is distributed equally, with 50% allocated to Monash Student Organisations (MSOs) and 50% retained by the University. Under this framework, all parties receive an increase of around 10% compared to previous years.

The University and MSOs collaborate on how SSAF is invested, ensuring funds go toward shared priorities, coordinated projects and initiatives that deliver the greatest benefit to students.

This prioritisation is informed by a new SSAF survey, which collects student opinions on which services matter most, where future SSAF funding should be directed, and how SSAF can best support the student community.

50% of the funding is spent on University-managed co-curricular programs, events and capital projects across all Australian campuses, as well as off-campus locations for medical students on placement.

Here are some examples of SSAF-funded activities for 2026:

Capital projects

50% is allocated to the Monash student associations, allowing them to deliver essential activities, services and facilities such as orientation activities, advocacy, student theatre, student clubs, artistic and cultural student engagement activities, sexual health promotions, tax advice, welfare services and capital projects.
