The CYPEP Australian Youth Barometer has been cited in the new national youth strategy, Engage! A strategy to include young people in the decisions we make.

In 2023, the Office for Youth initiated a consultation process that engaged with over 4,600 young people to ask how they would like to be involved in government decision-making. The results showed that young people want the government to value their views and to be included in decisions that are important to them. Specifically, 78.9% of young people want to be included in government decision-making.

CYPEP welcomes this inclusive strategy.

Last year, the 2023 Australian Youth Barometer was inaugurated by Hon Dr Anne Aly MP, Minister for Youth, at a policy roundtable co-hosted by the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition (AYAC) and the Academic of the Social Sciences in Australia.
