It is the University’s expectation that only those who are well and not presenting with COVID-19 symptoms attend a Monash campus or location. View our latest updates.
The Monash Teaching Suitability Test (MTeST) is a non-academic test to identify your suitability for the teaching profession.
An alternative to Casper, the MTeST is designed for entry into Monash Initial Teacher Education (ITE) courses only and cannot be used to apply for other institutions. It is a free, online test involving a series of open-ended questions.
The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) has outlined the attributes and motivations that are common to effective teachers. The purpose of the test is for you to demonstrate these key competencies to meet the non-academic entry requirements of an initial teacher education
course.
Some attributes you will need to demonstrate are:
motivation to teach
strong interpersonal and communication skills
willingness to learn
resilience and self-efficacy
conscientiousness
organisational and planning skills
How does the MTeST work?
When you apply for a Monash ITE course you will have the opportunity to sit the MTeST. You need to visit this page to access the MTeST on your personal device. The MTeST is open every Tuesday from 10am to 10pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) during our admissions period.
All questions are open ended and ask "List three key words or short phrases."
