Monash Abroad Travel Grant

Students approved to go on IPE can apply for a Monash Abroad Travel Grant (specifically Band B, Standard Travel Grant), which is a one off payment of $1,250 (in 2024). The application process is outlined on the Global Work Integrated Learning Placements - Faculty of Education page.

Student travel insurance

When you travel overseas for your professional experience placement, you are automatically covered by the Student travel insurance. Please read this policy to see what is and is not covered by the student travel insurance, what to do in an emergency and how to make a claim.

Government student loans for study abroad

Some pre-service teachers maybe be eligible to apply for the OS-HELP loan, which is a government scheme designed to support students who are undertaking some of their university study abroad. This loan gets added to your HECS debt.

Key eligibility criteria for OS-HELP loan include that you must be an Australian citizen or be on a permanent humanitarian visa, and that you cannot be enrolled in a zero-credit point unit for the professional experience component of your course.

Scholarships and bursaries for specific IPE programs

Some IPE locations may have associated scholarships or bursaries specific to that placement. If there are any, they will be listed on the relevant country's page.
