The aim of our pilot study is to investigate Kindergarten to Year 6 students’ spatial reasoning and geometric knowledge. The significance of this study for primary mathematics education as a discipline will be to provide teachers with the opportunities to develop their pedagogical knowledge to become better, more confident teachers of geometry. The findings may also confirm our assumption that we consider Australian children are behind in regards to geometric reasoning.
