- Referee reports
  Ask two (2) referees to provide confidential referee reports (one professional and one academic, if not possible then two professional referees can be provided), and upload them to the online Psychology Reference Portal. Make sure you give referees enough notice to submit their reports by the application closing date.
Selection process and offers:
- Shortlisting - Early November.
- Applicants are ranked on all selection criteria.
- We will contact shortlisted applications with a time and date to attend a selection interview. The interviews will be held in early to mid- November.
- All applicants are notified of the outcome (offers and rejection) of their application by early-mid December. Applicants are required to respond within two weeks of receiving their offer

  Scan and upload your degree transcript and completion certificate of your highest Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited qualification, plus evidence that you have held General Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia for a minimum of 12 months duration.
- Supplementary information form
  Complete the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology Advanced Supplementary Information Form.
- Referee reports
  Ask at least one professional referee to provide us with a confidential referee report by completing the MEDPA reference submission form . Make sure you give referees enough notice for them to submit their reports by the application date.
Selection process and offers:
- Term 1 2027 intake:
  - Shortlisting - Early November (after Melbourne Cup Day).
  - Applicants are ranked on all selection criteria.
  - Offers will be issued by mid to late November.
  - This course commences in early Jan - all offers must be accepted by 12th December 2026.
- Team 3 2027 intake:
  - Shortlisting - Early May.
  - Applicants are ranked on all selection criteria.
  - Offers will be issued by mid to late May.
  - This course commences in early July - all offers must be accepted by 18th June 2027.

Provisional Registration and WWCC: Apply in Early January
(Psychology master's applicants only)

If you are applying for either of the following courses:

Master of Professional Psychology
Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology

Before starting the course, you must apply for provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia or AHPRA. To ensure your registration covers the full academic year, it's recommended that you apply in early January.

You can begin gathering all required documents now to prepare for submission to AHPRA in January.

Make sure to complete the sections relevant to your registration during your higher degree studies, specifically either the APAC-accredited 5th year or the 5th and 6th years.

To prevent any delays in your application, please ensure that you include all required documentation.

Students enrolled in the Faculty of Education’s APAC-accredited graduate psychology programs are covered by Monash University’s insurance policies while participating in professional experience activities related to the course. As students, please list Monash University in the section regarding the location of practice.

Applicants need to ask two (2) referees to provide confidential referee reports (one professional and one academic, if not possible then two professional referees can be provided).
No, there will not be a second round of offers. All applicants are notified of the outcome (offers and rejection) of their application by early- mid December.
Due to the high volume of applications for a limited number of places available, it is not possible to provide individual feedback on interviews/applications. Applicants are ranked on all selection criteria, including academic results and personal suitability as assessed by the information provided on the required supplementary form - the personal statement, relevant work or volunteer experience related to psychology and confidential referee reports.
Unsuccessful applicants are advised to review how well their application addressed each of the selection criteria to determine where their ranking might be improved.
All interviews will be via Zoom and will follow the multiple mini interview format where you will have individual conversations with four teaching staff. The interview will take a total of up to half an hour.
The interview is preceded by a briefing conducted by currently enrolled students and you will have the opportunity to speak with them directly about the course.
The number of interviews offered each year is limited by the number of places available. More specific guidance as to who receives an interview invitation depends on the strength and size of the applicant pool and the number of places available from year to year.
Yes, you will be considered for an interview.
Applicants with international qualifications must have their qualifications assessed by the Australian Psychological Society. You can submit your application first but the APS assessment notice will need to be provided by the application due date.
No, the supplementary form and referee reports must be submitted by the application due date.
No, due to the volume of supplementary forms and referee reports submissions, the faculty cannot confirm it has been received. However, you should receive an acknowledgement email confirming the submission of the supplementary form. You will also be notified in the Psychology referencing system (HODSPA) once a referee has completed and submitted their reference.
Please provide a copy of your interim grades to date so we can use this in the assessment. If you are successful with getting an offer, the final academic documents will need to be submitted by the due date specified on the offer letter.
