Developing a conflict resolution theoretical framework for principals, leaders, teachers and whole school staff
Description
This project will research, develop and create a conflict resolution theoretical framework for schools, including principals, leaders, teachers and whole school staff. This research will provide:
- An understanding of the current theories and best practices in conflict resolution in schools
- An understanding of the causes of conflict
- An understanding of the benefits to proactively supporting members of the school community in the development of conflict resolution skills. This includes:
- Recognising early warning signs
- Identifying behaviours
- How to remain calm in a confrontation
- Negotiation skills
- The need to align expectations and behaviour management procedures with a conflict resolution approach to support student engagement and success
- The impact unresolved conflict has on school climate including:
- Relationship
- Productivity
- Engagement
- Sense of community
- Academic success
