An Australian family travelled to Rovaniemi, in Lapland, Finland. These children had never experienced snow before and were guided by locals who shared their knowledge, stories and traditions. The sound has been removed from the videos inviting you to look closely for moments of connection, curiosity and cultural exchange.
Learning to Icefish
The children step onto the frozen lake for their first ice‑fishing adventure, guided by a local expert who introduces them to new tools and techniques. Demonstrations turn into hands‑on attempts, with parents watching supportively from the snowy tree line. Tall pines and softly falling snow frame the experience.
Playing a Game
At a reindeer farm, stories of Sámi culture blend with playful learning as the children try their hand at lassoing a wooden reindeer. A skilled guide shows a young child how to hold and throw the rope, helping him experience success and join in the shared storytelling of the place.
Cooking Together
Gathered around a crackling fire, the group warms up after time in the snow. The children watch their food cook with quiet concentration, their faces lit by the flames. In this multi‑age moment, the guide’s gestures and calm expertise shape a shared experience of cooking, storytelling, and connection.
