Counselling professional placements

If you undertake a Master of Counselling you will be required to complete supervised professional placements. These placements include both contact and non-contact hours and offer valuable professional experience and establish contacts in the counselling field.

Non-contact hours include any duty associated with the placement centre that is not counselling, such as administrative duties, group observation, case note writing, case research and meeting attendance.

Contact hours include client counselling or discussions about clients with colleagues involved in counselling those clients.

Placements are typically taken in the second semester - although you may choose to begin non-contact hours in the first semester.
