Q Lab

Welcome to Q Lab

Our mission is to support educational improvement through the quality use of research and evidence.

We help schools, systems and communities to improve outcomes by using research and evidence well within their decision-making and practice development.

How we work

Our work is driven by three key principles:

Listening to practitioners

Evidence use is powerful when it complements and extends practitioners' professional expertise. By listening and collaborating, we aim to bring evidence into conversation with educators' voices and expertise.

"The way they collaborate is a huge strength and something that sets them apart as people who are authentically seeking perspectives outside academia."

Tailoring to context

Evidence use is most impactful when it is sensitive to the uniqueness of people's contexts. By taking the time to understand partners' contexts and goals, we develop bespoke approaches to evidence use.

“Their approach of making it understandable for your community ... and simplifying things for your context was part of the project that was really helpful for me."

Working in partnership

Using evidence is highly social and relational effort. By developing strong, two-way relationships with our partners, we build capacity to use evidence well within and beyond schools.

"They are very strategic about partnerships and they do this through creating partnerships that are organically and intentionally two-way.”
