Self-sourced rural placement program

Pre-service teachers can choose to do their teacher placement at a rural location of their choice, but they must seek permission from the Professional Experience Office first.

Applications should be made at the start of each academic year, or where applicable – at least six months prior to commencement of the placement.

All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via their Monash student email.

Applicants must have required security checks and clearances.

Pre-Service Teacher Placement Grant (PPG) Program

The Pre-Service Teacher Placement Grant (PPG) Program support pre-service teachers completing a teaching placement in an eligible regional, remote, or specialist Victorian government school between July 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025. How to apply

Access the Program Portal and click the apply for grant button. You can apply to the Program before or during the placement period and must apply to the Program no more than 30 days after placement completion.

Victorian Catholic Education Authority Grant (PPG) Program

The Victorian Catholic Education Authority Grant (PPG) Program is currently available to pre-service teachers completing a teaching placement in an eligible regional, remote, rural or specialist setting in a Catholic Education school. The PPG grant is arranged on the student’s behalf, if eligible. Students can apply to attend an eligible school by completing the Application for a rural placement form above.
