Supporting students with additional learning needs in primary, secondary and special development schools.

This program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to support students who have additional learning needs to access the curriculum and will assist you to work in an Education Support role (Integration Aide / Teacher Aide position). The Certificate of Completion in Education Support has been delivered for two decades by highly experienced educators. It is a well-recognised program in Victorian schools.

Duration

Online program: 14 X 2 hour online sessions

This program is offered multiple times throughout the year. If no suitable dates are currently available, please check the website regularly for upcoming intakes.

Participants will complete readings, independent study, and online learning activities throughout the program, requiring approximately 1 hour per topic in addition to scheduled sessions.

Course materials and equipment

All course materials are provided digitally through the online learning management system (Monash PDE Platform). Participants will need reliable internet access and a laptop, computer, or other compatible device to access course resources and participate in learning activities.

All classes are delivered live via Zoom. Your device must be equipped with a camera, microphone, and audio capability to enable participation in virtual classroom sessions.

There are no application deadlines. You can enrol at any time until the program is full or the day before the program starts, whichever comes first.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for this program. Participants should have a satisfactory level of written and spoken English and basic computer skills to support their learning and completion of assessment tasks.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age on the program start date.

Assessment

Assessment requirements include:

  • Active participation in class discussions and activities, with a minimum attendance requirement of 12 out of 14 online sessions. Attendance at Topic 1 is compulsory.
  • Journal entries
  • Completion of an application for a position as an education support staff person
  • Completion of a case study

Recognition

On successful completion of the program, including assessment tasks, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Faculty of Education, Monash University.
