This professional development program is designed to build safer, more inclusive school communities by reducing bullying through education, awareness, and collaboration.

Grounded in current research on bullying prevention, the program equips teachers, school leaders and wellbeing staff with practical strategies to identify, address, and prevent bullying behaviours.

Topics Covered

- Define the various forms of bullying and differentiate them from other aggressive behaviours.
- Describe the different types of bullying, including physical (such as hitting and pushing), verbal (such as name-calling and threats), emotional (such as marginalisation and emotional manipulation), and cyberbullying (harassment occurring through digital platforms
- Identify various indicators that a student may be experiencing bullying, such as changes in behaviour or academic performance.
- Evaluate, integrate, and apply relevant evidence-based research to develop a school action plan that addresses the short- and long-term effects of bullying on all parties involved: victims, perpetrators, and bystanders, by fostering a more empathetic approach to intervention.
- Examine the key responsibilities of teachers in fostering a proactive anti-bullying environment.
- Acquire knowledge on fostering a culture of respect and safety in classrooms, empowering educators to intervene effectively during incidents of bullying.
- Create inclusive classrooms by learning evidence-based strategies that prioritise inclusion and safety. This includes establishing clear behavioural expectations and implementing restorative practices that promote reconciliation and understanding.
- Synthesise and evaluate research that shows how fostering students' emotional intelligence can promote more compassionate behaviours. Participants will explore a variety of practical methods and activities designed to teach empathy and social-emotional skills. These will include structured discussions and collaborative projects. They will also be encouraged to incorporate these practices into their existing curriculum.
- Design and develop effective anti-bullying policies, focusing on evidence-based practices that are grounded in the latest research on bullying prevention.
- Acquire a knowledge base of the legal frameworks and ethical responsibilities surrounding bullying prevention, enabling them to navigate these complexities when developing and implementing school policies.
- Evacuate and assess an evidence-informed knowledge base of developing and implementing effective anti-bullying policies within their own educational settings.
