High achievers honoured at Vice-Chancellor awards

Educators and researchers from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences have been honoured for their hard work and innovation at the 2022 Vice-Chancellor’s Education and Research Awards.
Senior Lecturer Dr Betty Exintaris was one of the standouts of the faculty at the November 17 awards, winning the Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
Dr Exintaris was described as a passionate, dedicated and innovative educator with over 20 years of teaching experience in higher education, who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to improving the overall student experience. Her contributions have been recognised nationally and internationally through multiple awards, grants and invited conference presentations.
Meanwhile Deputy Dean Professor Paul White was inducted into the Monash Honour Roll.
Professor White received the honour for leading significant and enduring transformational change in pharmacy and pharmacology education, first as a world renowned cardiovascular biomedical researcher, but more recently as both Deputy Dean and Associate Dean Education of the faculty.
For more than 20 years, he has developed highly effective models, enabling a broad spectrum of educators to engage students in deep, sustained learning and explicit skills development at scale, impacting tens of thousands of students and educators around the world.
Monash University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Margaret Gardner AC, said the achievements of all recipients epitomised the talent and potential of the University, and demonstrated the very best in teaching innovation.
She said the awards showcased the world-leading research undertaken by Monash researchers, and staff who have made a meaningful contribution to fostering emerging leaders in research.

- Award for Research Excellence by an Early Career Researcher (STEM) - Dr Emma van der Westhuizen
- Award for Excellence in Enterprising Research - Associate Professor Bernard Flynn and Dr Xu Han
- Award for Excellence in Research Engagement and Impact - Professor Simon Bell
- Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Supervision - Associate Professor Ben Capuano
- Award for Professional Excellence in Research - Cameron Nowell.
