What can our students offer your organisation?
Students in the third year of their Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science undertake a professional experience unit, BPS3062. As part of this unit, students can participate in an industry placement that sees them utilise their scientific knowledge and technical skills in a professional environment. The unit also offers a number of career building activities such as resume writing and interview techniques (taught by the faculty).
These students have a strong foundation in the pharmaceutical sciences (physiology/pharmacology, medicinal and analytical chemistry, formulation science) and advanced laboratory skills. They understand key aspects of the drug development process (GMP, regulatory affairs, IP) and have developed their communication and teamwork skills throughout their studies.
Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science placements occur in the second half of the year and are typically carried out full time. Students typically complete 120 hours across four weeks (20 x 6 hour days).
Students studying a Master of Pharmaceutical Science undertake a professional placement unit, MPS5401. As part of this unit, students can choose to undertake an industry placement, complemented by a number of career planning activities, including interpersonal, management and career skills taught by the faculty.
Our Master of Pharmaceutical Science students are highly motivated science or health science graduates who seek to expand their skill set to become professionals in the pharmaceutical or related sectors. Students of this program have extensive scientific knowledge and an ability to apply it to the commercial, regulatory and social context of drug discovery and development. They have also benefited from actively practicing their communication and teamwork skills throughout the degree.
Students complete 350 hours of placement across 10 weeks full time (50 x 7 hour days) across the latter half of the year.
