Faculty Research Professional Award
This award is designed to reward professional staff members or teams who have recently achieved, or are currently achieving, outstanding contributions to the success of Monash research. The award celebrates success in those who go above and beyond to make a positive impact via their work as part of the Monash Research Community demonstrating sustained and significant achievement, be it as part of the MIPS platforms, supporting our laboratory and animal work, or facilitating inter-institutional research collaborations. Winners were nominated for the corresponding Vice-Chancellor Award.
2024 Michael Campbell
Mike received a PhD in Chemistry from the Victorian College of Pharmacy (awarded through the University of Melbourne) followed by an industrially-focussed post-doctoral fellowship with Prof Bill Charman. He joined the CDCO at its inception in 2003 as the Chemistry Section Leader, becoming Section Leader for the combined Chemistry/Bioanalytical team in 2019.
Over the past 20+ years, Mike has made numerous contributions to many significant drug discovery programs through his role within the CDCO. He provides expertise and guidance in pharmaceutical chemistry, physicochemical profiling, and bioanalysis to support internal and external research programs, and provides training and mentorship to CDCO scientists in these areas to ensure high quality data outputs.
Mike has been responsible for the implementation and maintenance of all CDCO data management and archiving processes over the years, and he was pivotal to the establishment of the CDCO electronic lab notebook and inventory database in 2008.
Mike is a valued team member and respected leader and peer. He is highly regarded by the CDCO team and actively promotes a culture of collaboration and scientific engagement to achieve Centre and Monash goals and objectives.
