2025 International Women's Day Event

Last month, we celebrated #IWD2025 by hearing from some motivating and inspiring women and allies at our Her Research Matters International Women’s Day Event. We had a fantastic show of support from students and academic staff at MIPS attending the event.

We firstly heard from HRM Co-Chairs, Dr. Sanjeevini Babu Reddiar and Dr. Manuela Jörg, where they reflected on the successful year of events and HRM initiatives in 2024.

We then heard from our sponsored Science Meets Parliament 2025 attendees, Dr. Garima Sharma, Dr. Gopisankar MG, Dr. Melanie Lloyd, and Dr. Bui San Thai, who shared their highlights and key messages from Parliament House in Canberra. One key take away was 'Feel the fear and do it anyway!'!

It was then time to hear from our two keynote speakers and inaugural HRM Impact Award Recipients, Assoc. Prof. Natalie Trevaskis and Dr. Simona Carbone. Both Natalie and Simona shared their personal stories, what they learned from them, and what helped them grow and continue to inspire and support women around them today. We would again like to congratulate and thank Natalie and Simona for their outstanding contributions to an environment supporting women in research.

HRM would like to thank all of our speakers, and everyone who came to support such an important cause; we wouldn't be able to keep hosting these impactful events without your solidarity. We hope to see you at future events soon.
