Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Awards
Introduced in 2024, the faculty award for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is designed to acknowledge those who have made an outstanding contribution to advancing equity, diversity and fostering inclusion at Monash. Individuals and or teams are encouraged to apply based on the one or more of the following themes:
- Education - Developing teaching practice, curricula or other initiatives that foster inclusion for a diverse range of students; as well as education activities and training for staff designed to enhance understanding of equitable and inclusive practices, or supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
- Environment and culture - Initiatives aimed at building or supporting equity, diversity and inclusion at Monash, promoting accessible and inclusive spaces (physical, social and digital), advocating for change alongside marginalised identities to enhance our learning and/or working environment and culture.
- Community - Initiatives aimed at building a community that is equitable, diverse and inclusive, engaging with the wider community to foster inclusion and a sense of belonging, as well as initiatives informed by lived experiences of our diverse community that sought to address issues of inequality.

2025 Multicultural Outreach and Support for Advancement, Inclusion and Community (MOSAIC)

Multicultural Outreach and Support for Advancement, Inclusion and Community (MOSAIC), launched in March 2024 with >40 active members, is a support network within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University, aimed at fostering the representation and inclusion of people of colour, as well as individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Success for MOSAIC means building an inclusive and equitable environment by actively removing systemic barriers and creating clear pathways for career progression. It’s about fostering a strong, supportive network that empowers members in their professional journeys, enhances their visibility across academic and professional spaces, and nurtures a deep sense of belonging within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Her Research Matters (HRM), launched in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in October 2019 and with >140 active members, is a grass-roots driven, outcome focused collective that promotes, sponsors and fosters an inclusive and equitable leadership environment to enable women in academia to reach their full potential.
Her Research Matters has actively engaged the next generation of scientists, coordinated promotion review for MIPS researchers to address gender inequity at senior levels, and worked together with PharmAlliance and others to effect change at a global level. Her Research Matters supports and promotes diversity and inclusion at Monash to ensure we are valuing different minds to overcome systemic barriers in academia.
