International opportunities
Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science students have a range of international experiences that they can undertake as part of their course.
Global Intercampus Program
Students studying the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science have the opportunity to participate in Monash’s Global Intercampus Program and undertake a one semester intercampus exchange between the Parkville (Australia) and Sunway (Malaysia) campuses. Visit the faculty specific application page for full program information; including general entry requirements, financial information, applications dates and links to apply.
Bachelor of Pharmacy students (P3001, P6001) can only go on exchange for one semester in Semester 2 of second year or Semester 1 of third year.
Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science students (P2001, P3002) can only go on exchange for one semester in second year, either in Semester 1 or in Semester 2.
You must have an average of at least 60% across all completed units.
Note: A maximum of five Bachelor of Pharmacy students and five Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science students from each campus will be selected to go on exchange each semester. If more applications are received than places available, students will be selected on academic merit.
Note: Monash Malaysia students, please refer to the Monash Malaysia website.
Monash Global Campus Intensive for Bachelor of Pharmacy
Bachelor of Pharmacy students can apply to participate in the Monash Global Campus Intensive (MGCI), short-term programs and take third year unit PHR5052 - Inquiry and innovation methods at Prato in Italy. Successful applicants will complete this unit during the winter semester and return to their home campus to complete the remaining third year units (PHR3062 and PHR3042) in semester 2. Visit the Study Abroad MGCI page for detailed program information, including how to apply.
Note: Places in this program are limited and applications will be assessed on personal statement and academic merit.
Exchange in the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science
Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science students at our Parkville campus have the opportunity to undertake an exchange to a Monash partner institution. Visit Semester exchange on the Study Abroad website for step-by-step advice on the full application process.
Please be aware that due to the structure of the P3002 and P2001 courses, you do not have 'free' elective units to study whilst abroad, which makes it very difficult to develop a Study Plan. Participation in this program will extend the duration of your degree by one or more semesters and its preferred participants have a WAM of 70 or more.
Note: E3008 students, please refer to the Faculty of Engineering website for exchange information.
Note: Pharmaceutical Science exchange is only available to students enrolled at an Australian campus.
Bachelor of Pharmacy Global Inquiry Projects
Bachelor of Pharmacy students can apply to take part in a research project abroad as part of their fourth-year unit, PHR5151: Inquiry and innovation projects. Selected students will visit our PharmAlliance partners at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) to undertake an eight-week research project. Visit Study Abroad's Program Search page and filter on "PHR5151" to find the full program description, including how to apply and relevant financial information.
Note: The Pharmacy global inquiry project is only available to students enrolled at our Parkville campus
Note: Places are limited and applications will be competitively assessed based on your personal statement and academic merit.
Global Self-sourced Co-Curricular Experiences
Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences' students at our Parkville campus may be able to participate in a self-initiated global experience. Co-curricular experiences are overseas activities related to your studies, but which do not involve you getting credit towards your degree. It may be possible to undertake a co-curricular experience in the form of an overseas placement or internship alongside your studies. Visit Study Abroad’s Global Student-Led Initiatives page for more information on self-sourced Co-curricular experiences.
