The Monash Aged Care On-site Pharmacist Training Program (MUATP)

The new Monash University Aged Care On-site Pharmacist (ACOP) Training Program (MUATP)* is designed to credential pharmacists to perform the Aged Care On-site Pharmacist (ACOP) roles. Since 1 July 2024, funding has been available for community pharmacies and aged care providers to employ on-site pharmacists in residential aged care homes; more information is available here.

Prerequisite Requirement: This program is eligible for generally registered pharmacists with Ahpra (no conditions) that have completed an APC-accredited Medication Management Review (MMR) program. This could include our Monash University MMR Training Program.

Course structure

The MUATP is sequenced across three steps.

Step 1 - Self-directed online learning Steps 2a and 2b - Simulated workshops and assessmentsStep 3 - Experiential learning
Engage in our interactive, online, self-directed learning modules to support the development of your knowledge in relation to aged care, clinical governance and the ACOP role.Practice your skills in core ACOP processes such as clinical reviews, medication reconciliation, management of transition of care encounters, conducting quality improvement audits and the development of medication-related Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) policies.Demonstrate your competency in core ACOP processes by completing workplace-based assessments supervised by an approved ACOP supervisor.

Costs

The program costs $1600 AUD for general registered pharmacists to complete the full course and assessment.
