Multicultural Outreach and Support for Advancement, Inclusion and Community (MOSAIC) was co-founded by Dr Amy NY Chen and Dr Amandeep Kaur in March 2023 with the mission to foster an inclusive and supportive network that empowers individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds through mentorship, sponsorship, and professional development in Monash Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), working alongside A/Prof. Betty Exintaris, A/Dean Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

MOSAIC is driven by grass-roots initiatives to challenge and change the status quo with respect to individuals from CALD backgrounds. We aim to create a supportive and empowering network for MOSAIC members to achieve their full potential, and we do this in a pragmatic, outcome-focused manner.

We are dedicated to breaking down structural and systemic barriers, amplifying diverse voices, and championing career advancement for all the individuals from CALD.

  • Provide a platform for networking, professional development, and mutual support among members
  • Facilitate career advancement through mentoring, workshops, and others development opportunities
  • Increase the representation of people of colour and CALD individuals in leadership and decision-making roles
  • Celebrate the achievements of MOSAIC members and the broader community
  • Raise awareness and share the lived experiences of CALD communities to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Mobilise allies to actively support and champion equity-focused initiatives in the workplace

MOSAIC is led by two Co-Chairs. Each Chair will serve a term of two years. A new Co-Chair will be elected every year. This structure ensures continuity and allows the incoming Co-Chair to have one year of experience in the role of Co-Chair before assuming full leadership responsibilities.

MOSAIC is supported by several executive branches, including Secretary, Treasurer, Outreach Coordinator, Representatives from all levels, including academic and professional staff, early-mid career researchers and students.

MOSAIC executive branches are supported by a committee formed by volunteers from the network membership who are committed to advancing MOSAIC's objectives.
