This year’s Monash Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science Employability Expo is scheduled for 27 April till 1 May 2026 (Week 8, Semester One). The Expo will feature a series of events targeting skills development and career opportunities.

From harnessing networking and LinkedIn, to gaining an insight into translation and commercialisation, these events aim to boost your employability.

From Hello to Opportunity: Networking Essentials for Pharma Pathways

Monday 27 April | 12-12:50pm | Cossar Hall

Get career‑fair ready with this hands‑on workshop designed for Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science students. Learn how to build a confident elevator pitch, start conversations with employers, and use simple networking strategies that help you stand out. Pharmaceutical Science and AI: Research and Industry Applications

This compelling panel discussion, featuring Dr Matthew Belousoff and Dr Laurence Orlando, explores how artificial intelligence is shaping pharmaceutical and cosmetic science across both research and industry settings. Bridging cutting‑edge academic research with real‑world applications, the session will highlight how AI is used in areas such as drug discovery, data analysis, product development, and decision‑making, including its growing role in cosmetic formulation, ingredient innovation, and consumer-driven product development.

Attendees will gain insights into how these advances are transforming the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors, the skills and knowledge increasingly valued by employers, and the ways students can prepare for and contribute to AI‑enabled careers in this evolving field.

Pharmaceutical Science: Translation and Commercialisation

This engaging panel discussion, featuring Prof Paul Stupple (Director, Australian Translational Medicinal Chemistry Facility) and Dr Katie Leach (Business Development Manager) from the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, introduces students to the roles of translation and commercialisation in turning ideas into impact.

The session will explore translation as the process of applying research knowledge to practical settings, alongside commercialisation as the process of progressing research innovations through intellectual property, industry partnerships, licensing, or spin‑out ventures. Attendees will gain insight into how each area offers different career opportunities, skill sets, and ways to contribute, helping students understand how they can engage, depending on their career interests and goals.

Pharmacists’ Expanding Scope of Practice

Pharmacy Guild of Australia (Victoria) and VPSA are bringing four different practising pharmacists to present on the current expanding scope of practice. Come join us to hear from an Aged Care Onsite Pharmacist, a Prescribing Pharmacist, a Medicinal Cannabis Dispensing Pharmacist, and an Immunisation Pharmacist to learn about their career pathways, day-to-day responsibilities, and how these initiatives are improving the safe and quality use of medications.

CPD Information Session

MEPSS invites all Engineering and Pharmaceutical Science students (E3008) to this year's Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Crash Course to help prepare for the future. Double degree students are required to complete 420 hours of CPD, together we will start from the basics all the way through to being able to confidently log an experience and reflections.

This interactive workshop/panel blends case discussions, practical decision‑making, and professional insight drawn from real workplace situations. You’ll discover how to stand out as an international student candidate by solving cases, practising your communication skills, and receiving personalised feedback from alumni who have been through the same journey. It’s a supportive space to build confidence, sharpen your reasoning, and understand what employers look at while learning how others have transitioned from student life to professional practice in Australia.

PIES Event | Runway to Resume

Friday 1 May | 5-7pm | PPS1/2

Get job‑ready with confidence! Runway to Resume is an engaging, practical session designed to help you strengthen your presentation and interview skills. This welcoming environment is ideal for building confidence and expectations with Australian workplace norms and professional communication styles, especially for international students who may be new to these contexts.

Step onto the career runway by coming dressed in what you would wear to a job interview, or in the outfit you imagine yourself wearing in your future career. After a short introduction and runway walk, you will rotate through mini mock interviews with experts. These conversations will help you practise common interview questions, refine your communication style, and receive constructive, supportive feedback. You will also have the chance to connect with the Parkville International and Exchange Students (PIES) and Parkville International Student Association (PISA) community and make new friends while gaining practical experience.

If you are planning for your first professional job this event will help prepare you present yourself with clarity, confidence and professionalism.
