Vale Annalise Tindal

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University acknowledges with deep sadness and respect the passing of Annalise Tindal, who served as Academic and Student Services Manager from April 2009 – May 2024.

Annalise was a highly regarded member of the Parkville campus community, known for her exceptional professionalism, strategic insight, and unwavering dedication to academic operations. Her leadership was instrumental in the coordination of student services, policy implementation, committee administration, and cross-campus collaboration. She played a central role in supporting the Faculty Education Committee and contributed significantly to the alignment of faculty procedures with university-wide reforms.

Annalise’s legacy includes substantial contributions to curriculum development and academic program management. Annalise provided critical administrative leadership during the design and establishment of the vertical double Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy program, ensuring the successful integration of regulatory frameworks, course administrative requirements, and student-facing systems. She also had significant input into the full review of the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, facilitating stakeholder engagement, documentation, and implementation processes that strengthened the course’s structure and delivery.

Prior to joining Monash, Annalise held a diverse range of roles across higher education, publishing, and international development. Her career spanned multiple continents, including the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Australia. She brought a global perspective to Monash, including refined communication skills and a sophisticated understanding of institutional systems. Her early work in editorial and education-focused roles laid the foundation for the clarity, precision, and cultural sensitivity that defined her approach to academic administration.

Annalise was known not only for her operational excellence but also for her collegiality and mentorship. She fostered strong professional relationships across campuses and was a trusted resource for staff navigating complex processes. Linda Lim, Education Manager at the School of Pharmacy in Monash Malaysia, recalls calling on Annalise for support.

“Annalise was a warm and generous person—always ready to offer her help with such patience and kindness,” Linda said.

“I still remember when I first joined the university, she became my go-to person for guidance. She was quick to respond, thoughtful in her advice, and always made time, even when I knew she was juggling many things.”

Outside of her professional life, Annalise was a passionate traveller and global citizen. She lived in over 30 locations across the United States, United Kingdom, Middle East, Singapore and Australia. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be taken to Scotland—a place she held close to her heart and considered a spiritual home.

Marian Costelloe, Faculty General Manager, worked with Annalise for 15 years. “Annalise was diligent, took pride in her work and was very professional,” Marian said.

“She was a real loss to the faculty and to the Parkville community."

Annalise Tindal leaves behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and institutional impact. Her contributions to our Faculty and Monash University, and to the many communities she served throughout her career will be remembered with deep fondness and appreciation. She will be greatly missed by colleagues, friends, and all who had the privilege of walking alongside her.
