This award, nominated by the William Cooper Institute, recognises high achievement in academic studies by First Nations students. This award is proudly supported by FGB Natural Products.

Matthew Cloake is a highly motivated BPharm(Hons)/MPharm student and a proud Gomeroi man who is fueled by his love for physiology, chemistry & community and greatly enjoys applying the knowledge and skills he gains from his degree in clinical settings, helping people to better connect with and understand their health.
So far during his degree, Matthew has learnt from many skilled & experienced pharmacists and pharmacologists of various disciplines, who have encouraged him to expand his knowledge by always actively participating during lectures and workshops by asking questions and testing his skills, which has deepened his passion for the field and helped him to excel in his studies thus far.
Matthew has been especially interested in infectious-diseases and cardiology and is eager to take all opportunities to build his knowledge in these areas to help maximise patient health outcomes by providing the best possible evidenced-based care.
In the future, Matthew hopes to pursue a career in clinical infectious diseases pharmacy, using both his passion for healthcare and the skills gained from his degree to improve the lives of others, but is also open to all opportunities and would be proud to work in any area of the pharmacy discipline.

Jessalyn Tan is currently a Pharmacy Intern at Eastern Health. Throughout this year, Jessalyn has had the privilege of gaining exposure to all aspects of hospital pharmacy. In particular, Jessalyn has enjoyed her rotations in General Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery, and is looking forward to her upcoming rotations in the Neurology and Cardiology units. She has also enjoyed working with encouraging and knowledgeable pharmacists, inspiring her to continue to be diligent towards her goals and studies.
Jessalyn is driven and committed to making a positive impact in her career in pharmacy. She has found that her contributions to patient healthcare have been most valuable when she attends ward rounds and has meaningful interactions with patients and their families. Jessalyn is excited about her future career prospects in pharmacy, with the dynamic expansion of pharmacy services in the hospital and community.

Having graduated from Monash University in 2023, Hannah is currently undertaking her intern year at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Her passion to pursue a career in pharmacy started 9 years ago with her first job in a local small town pharmacy.
Hannah, currently immersed in her internship, finds particular interest in cardiology and endocrinology where she has integrated her acquired knowledge from university into practice. Working within a dynamic interdisciplinary hospital setting, Hannah has developed a unique appreciation for the role pharmacists have in patient care.
With a keen interest in further honing her expertise, Hannah aspires to pursue a residency program following her internship. Her commitment to delivering compassionate and comprehensive care underscores her passion for the field.

This award acknowledges the second year student who has achieved the highest average mark across the How the Body Works and How Medicines Works units. This award is proudly supported by Michael Halprin.

Elaine Tan is a third year pharmacy student. She is passionate about optimising the safe and effective use of medicines, while striving to make a positive impact to patient care in her community. Elaine is thoroughly enjoying her comprehensive care units this semester and has developed a particular interest in the management of infectious diseases and the important role pharmacists play in antimicrobial stewardship.
Elaine is constantly driven to seek opportunities that enhance her personal and professional growth. She recently had the privilege of undertaking a SHPA Student Summer Placement at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where she gained insight into clinical and operational pharmacist roles. Her active involvement in providing post-operative discharge counselling, reviewing inpatient medication charts and dispensing specialised ophthalmic medicines were highlights from this experience. She also had the unique opportunity to observe specialists perform intravitreal injections and cataract surgeries.
Elaine is looking forward to exploring where pharmacy takes her in the near future, as she continues to build on her knowledge of medicines and apply her skills to diverse challenges in both primary care and hospital settings.

This award acknowledges the first year student who has achieved the highest cumulative mark across the physical chemistry units. This award is proudly supported by the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Foundation.

Dishita Jathar is currently a second year Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science Advanced (Honours) student Following her interest and passion for chemistry and biology, she chose to undertake this course at Monash University.
Through her studies so far, she has learned about human physiology, medicinal chemistry, and drug formulations, as well as the drug discovery pipeline. She is passionate about drug research and development to help improve the lives of people around the world.
Alongside her academic commitments, Dishita also aims to make the most of her university experience by partaking in extracurricular activities organised by clubs and associations at Parkville. She also strives to improve her soft skills through her part-time work.
Dishita is very grateful for all of the support she has received from her family, friends, mentors, and staff members in her journey so far. Dishita is looking forward to the rest of her course and hopes to further advance her knowledge in the different areas of the pharmaceutical field. She aims to also contribute to the Monash community by taking up volunteering opportunities in the future.
