Mineral Separation Facility

The Minerals Separation Laboratory and Crushing Laboratory provide facilities for the preparation, separation and concentration of minerals by their physical properties via the use of heavy liquids (density) and magnetics (magnetic susceptibility). The crushing laboratory houses equipment such as jaw crushers, sieve shakers and mills for the preparation of whole rock powders for XRD (see sasha.wilson@monash.edu) & XRF (analyses sent offsite). This facility accepts collaborative and contractual work.
