Project title: Managing habitat fragments in urban areas under climate change

Background:  This project is a collaboration with Kingston Council (Melbourne), focused on identifying the risk posed by changing climates on the fragmented remnant vegetation, bushland reserves and foreshore habitats managed by the Kingston Council Conservation team. The focus of this project is to investigate best-practice approaches for identifying risk to native species from climate change, and for monitoring floristic changes over time. Additionally, the project will focus on monitoring the effectiveness of different approaches to conserving plant biodiversity values within these urban habitat fragments.

Project Aims:
Design and monitor the effectiveness of approaches to conserve plant biodiversity values in urban habitat fragments.

Techniques:  Interested students should ideally have some experience and/or interest in botany and plant communities, enjoy fieldwork, and have some experience with or be interested in learning GIS software.
