The Honours year provides an opportunity for highly achieving undergraduate students to participate in the research of the School of Mathematics during an additional fourth year of undergraduate study.

Lecture topics

All honours students will need to complete a number of lecture topics (the exact number will depend on which honours program is taken). A complete list of lecture topics can be found in the handbook. Advice on specific research areas is available from the course advisers.


Each honours student will need to complete one project. A complete list of the available projects can be found in the Honours Project handbook.

Awards & Prizes

Honours students who meet eligibility and excel in a given area could potentially receive one of our awards or prizes. More information, including eligibility and selection criteria, can be found on our Honours Awards & Prizes webpage.

Applying for honours

Applications for semester two 2022 for entry into the Bachelor of Science (Hons), course code S3701 will open on Monday 28 March 2022 and close on Monday 27 June 2022.
