Crown dieback classification using drone photos for assessment of forest health
Supervisor(s): Xuan Zhu
Field of study: GIS, urban mining and environmental sustainability
This project aims to quantify dieback in forests to provide information for land managers and decision makers seeking to explain spatial disturbances and assess forest health. It will involve the estimation of crown dieback ratio at the individual tree scale from the aerial photos captured by drone using machine learning techniques. Eucalyptus forests in East Gippsland will be used as a case study.
