Dr. Ruth Reef - Honours Projects
Supervisor: Ruth Reef
Field of Study: Coastal Research
Support Offered: (if applicable) Research Funding for two students
A range of projects on Victoria’s coastal environments to suit the interest of the applicant. Ranging from using environmental DNA to determine marine sediment provenance, remote sensing and GIS to investigate shoreline change, using dendrochronology and dendrochemistry of mangrove tree rings in sea level reconstructions, using UAVs and thermal cameras to study penguin nesting habitats, glasshouse based studies on mangrove dispersal capacity, and species distribution modelling to determine climate change driven changes in mangrove and saltmarsh distributions. Applicants should enjoy spending time in the field, in the lab and in front of a computer. Successful completion of relevant units is an advantage.
