Achieving Potential Support Scholarships

Achieving Potential Support Scholarships are provided to commencing students whose educational achievements may have been masked by their personal circumstances. The scholarship is awarded based on need - there is no specific ATAR requirement.

You may be eligible if you have low income and intend to study an undergraduate degree at Monash. Additional consideration will be given if you are experiencing other forms of educational disadvantage such as being a recent refugee, live in a low socio-economic, regional or remote area, attend an under-represented school, have a disability or long-term medical condition, or have experienced difficult personal circumstances.

I'm from a single-income family, and having a scholarship helped relieve some of the financial pressure as I started university. It also gives me the motivation and confidence to strive for excellence, as I know I have the support of others. The opportunity to follow one's dream is not one I take lightly, and I am fortunate to have a scholarship that is helping make my dream a reality.

Am I eligible?

You must be one of the following:

  • An Australian citizen
  • A New Zealand citizen
  • Australian permanent resident
  • Australian humanitarian visa holder

You must meet the following criteria:

  • Commencing student, enrolled in or intending to enrol in an undergraduate  degree at a Monash campus in Australia*.
  • Have a low income
  • *Includes Diploma of Tertiary Studies and Diploma of Higher Education

Benefits

  • $6000 per annum (48 credit points of study) for the duration of your degree (For scholarships awarded from 2024).
  • $3000 per annum (48 credit points of study) for the duration of your degree (For scholarships awarded pre 2024).

Number offered

  • 250 per year.

Selection criteria

To retain this scholarship:

  • You must maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50 each semester.

How to apply

  • VTAC applicants - If you think you might be eligible for an equity scholarship, ensure that you apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) through VTAC between Monday 31 July (9am) and Friday 6 October (5pm) to be automatically considered.
  • This scholarship can be deferred.
