Participants will gain practical skills in evaluating the psychometric properties of outcome measures, as well as how to design and conduct reliability and validity studies.

This course is suitable for health care providers, health service researchers, academics, quality and program managers, and HDR students interested in evaluating (or developing) outcome measures.

Topics covered on Day 1 include:

  • Overview of measurement and measurement properties
  • Reliability and measurement error
  • Responsiveness and interpreting change scores

Topics covered on Day 2 include:

  • Content, criterion and construct validity
  • Structural and predictive validity
  • Evaluating the methodological quality of studies on measurement properties
