Design - F2010
Design
Bachelor degree
Immerse yourself in an innovative design community which actively seeks to make a positive difference in the world by taking on global problems and solving them with innovative design solutions.
We offer four different specialisations in Design, so you can build a high level of design expertise in the area that interests you most.
You don’t have to choose now though – everyone starts in a common first semester to explore all our design specialisations – Communication, Industrial and Spatial. This allows you to choose which Design specialisation you’ll enter in semester two.
If you decide that you’re interested in elements of all three, you can custom-create your own combination and enter into the Collaborative Design specialisation.
Specialisations
Communication Design
Become a bold, imaginative communication designer who shapes the visual language of contemporary society through creative visual storytelling.
Industrial Design
Create beautiful, functional objects by combining your knowledge of materials, manufacturing and human-centred design with innovation and aesthetics.
Spatial Design
Design new experiences that set moods, communicate ideas and address social problems through the innovative use of space, lighting and objects.
Collaborative Design
Combine elements from Communication Design, Industrial Design and Spatial Design to custom-create your own Collaborative Design degree.

University entrance requirements
Minimum entrance requirements for admission to Monash University Australia.
With a specialist course at Monash you begin study in your area of interest from day one. If you have a specific career goal or more specific field of study firmly in your sights, this may be the option for you. These courses are designed to ensure you have the right combination of skills needed for your professional field.
The course develops through theme studies in History and theory, Drawing foundation, and Design studios specific to each of the specialisations. These will come together in the form of a graduand exhibition normally developed during the final two studio units in the third year of the course.
Partner with another course
Double degree courses allow you to study towards two different degrees at the same time, and graduate with two separate qualifications. And because a required subject in one course can count as an elective in the other, our double degrees take up to two years less than if you studied for the two degrees separately.
