Outcomes of the Master of Cybersecurity

Through the course, you’ll learn how to:

  • critically evaluate existing systems using the theories, techniques and software tools available in the areas of cybersecurity, and propose improvements
  • adapt new and emerging technologies in application development based on key principles of cybersecurity
  • analyse and document core issues in building secure, effective systems
  • competently design architectures for secure and trustworthy systems
  • enhance existing systems with new technologies, learned through either a significant research thesis or research-based industry project

But with greater access comes greater exposure to security risks, which calls for more cybersecurity specialists. See yourself intercepting and preventing digital crime?

It doesn’t matter whether you have previous experience in IT. We’ve structured our course to be flexible, offering foundational knowledge to those who require it.

Study your Master of Cybersecurity at Monash, the only member of the prestigious Group of Eight universities with a dedicated IT faculty.

Students wishing to exit early can complete with a Graduate Certificate of Cybersecurity or Graduate Diploma of Cybersecurity.

Entry Requirements

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

Qualifications

Entry level 1:
Duration: 2 years full-time, 4 years part-time (96 points to complete)

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) not necessarily in IT, with at least a credit (60%) average.

Entry level 2:
Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time (72 points to complete)

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline including computing, computer science, software engineering, computer systems, electrical, electronic or communication engineering with completed studies in python programming, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems and networks, systems analysis and design and databases with at least a credit (60%) average.

English requirements

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.
