Epidemiology - M4028

Epidemiology

Graduate certificate

The role of the epidemiologist has never been more important. Being able to coordinate a defence against a disease outbreak – or even better, predict and prevent their occurrence - is crucial to keeping our community safe and healthy.

The Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology builds your knowledge of key epidemiological principles including biostatistics, health promotion and disease. This course will develop your practical epidemiological and data analysis skills, as well as the capacity to apply them in public health contexts. Alongside your core studies, you will have the opportunity to explore the epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as public health challenges, clinical trials and research methods.

This choice of electives provides you with an insight into the big picture of health and where you might like to focus your career.

Monash experts continue to shape the state and national response to COVID-19. In the Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology, you’ll learn from some of Australia’s most prominent epidemiologists, biostatisticians, infectious disease specialists and public health experts.

Further study

A Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology could also lead you towards further study, with the opportunity to progress into the Master of Public Health.
