Monash Leaders Scholarship

A leadership scholarship for a music and/or performance ensemble comprising current undergraduate or Honours year students in the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance at Monash. Open to ensembles of between 2 – 6 students, this $6000 scholarship will be divided equally between ensemble members. An EOI and audition process will be conducted by the School of Music and Performance. The scholarship supports an ensemble that demonstrates excellence in performance and community arts engagement.

As a music student, receiving a scholarship has allowed me to become a more self-sufficient musician. It's contributed to a better home setup and equipment to help me learn better. From this I've gained invaluable knowledge about content producing, which will help me towards my future job.

Am I eligible?

You must be one of the following:

  • An Australian citizen
  • A New Zealand citizen
  • Australian permanent resident
  • Australian humanitarian visa holder
  • An International student

You must also be:

  • A current undergraduate or Honours year student in the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance at a Monash campus in Australia.
  • Part of a music/performance ensemble of between 2 and 6 performers

Benefits

  • The total scholarship amount of $6000 will be divided equally among ensemble members.
  • The recipients will be invited to perform in a public performance presented by the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance.

  • Based on an application and audition as determined by the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance.

To retain this scholarship:

You must maintain satisfactory academic performance as determined by the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance.

How to apply

  • Ensembles are invited to submit a  separate application form.
  • Applications will close Friday, 8 May 2026 (5pm).
  • Students will be notified of their application outcome by Friday, 22 May 2026.
  • This scholarship can be held with any other scholarship of an equal or greater value.
  • This scholarship can be deferred.
