Physiotherapy - M6032

Physiotherapy

Professional entry master's degree

As a physiotherapist, you have the opportunity to make a big impact on someone’s life. Whether you’re part of a transplant recipient’s first steps with a new set of lungs or helping an athlete get back on the field after an injury, it’s a highly rewarding job.

Delivered at our Peninsula campus, a growing hub for allied health and primary care education, this three‑year graduate‑entry program builds your understanding across anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, pathology and exercise prescription, preparing you practice across the core areas of musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. You'll learn in a dynamic, evidence-based curriculum that develops leadership, advocacy, communication, and clinical reasoning skills, preparing you to work with clients across the lifespan in contemporary physiotherapy practice.

Study your way

Early, Immersive Clinical Training

From your very first semester, you’ll begin physiotherapy education through simulation activities, on‑campus practical labs, and work‑integrated learning experiences. These early encounters build your clinical decision‑making, manual handling, and patient‑interaction skills before you transition into real-world clinical settings.

Extensive Clinical Placements

You’ll undertake supervised clinical placements early and often, engaging with Monash’s extensive network of public and private partner organisations across Australia. These placements span:

  • Acute and subacute hospitals
  • Community rehabilitation
  • Private practices and sports clinics
  • Rural and regional health services

This hands-on experience ensures you understand physiotherapy across the continuum of care – from emergency and trauma rehabilitation to chronic disease management and preventative health.

Research and Professional Development

Under the mentorship of Monash physiotherapy experts, you’ll complete your own research project, contributing to innovation and best practice in physiotherapy. You’ll also build capabilities in leadership, advocacy, professional communication, and patient education – preparing you for a wide range of potential career pathways or future doctoral research.
