| Additional details Project background: In 2018, the Victorian Government committed $9.16 million over four years to establish the Personality Disorder Initiative (PDI), aiming to improve access to high-quality care for people with severe personality disorder within the public mental health system. The Initiative sought to build the expertise and capability of the mental health workforce to assess, treat, and support people with severe personality disorder who are at high risk of suicide, severe self-harm, and/or violent or aggressive behaviours. As part of the Initiative, Spectrum, the Victorian specialist personality disorder service, delivered intensive training and ongoing clinical supervision to designated Personality Disorder (PD) Specialists from six public mental health services: Alfred Health, Monash Health, Melbourne Health (Northern Area Mental Health Service), Barwon Health, Goulburn Valley Health and Forensicare. Research project: An evaluation framework for the Initiative was developed by the Victorian Department of Health in partnership with Spectrum. One component of this evaluation examined Victorian public mental health clinicians' perspectives, confidence, and experiences in working with people living with personality disorder. Following completion of the Initiative, a statewide survey was conducted, with approximately 250 clinicians from Victorian public mental health services participating. While the dataset has been cleaned and is ready for analysis, several research questions remain unexplored and the findings have not yet been published. This Summer Scholarship project will involve analysing the survey data and preparing a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal. The student will work closely with an experienced research team and gain hands-on experience in quantitative health research, data interpretation, and scientific writing. The successful student will have the opportunity to: • Analyse real-world health services dataset. • Develop skills in quantitative data analysis and interpretation. • Contribute to a peer-reviewed journal publication. • Gain experience in implementation and evaluation research within the Victorian public mental health system. • Work alongside experienced researchers in a specialist mental health service. |

This audit aims to determine the number and characteristics of patients presenting to the Eastern Health emergency departments with skin disorders over a 3-month period. The audit will describe the frequency and spectrum of dermatological presentations across different age groups, as well as patient demographics, referral patterns, diagnoses, management, and clinical outcomes. The findings will provide an overview of the burden of skin disease in the emergency setting; identify age-related differences in presentation and management; highlight areas for service improvement; and help inform future resource allocation, education, and models of dermatology care. |

| Additional details The Beyond 50 study explores the experiences of adults aged 50-70 who are planning for retirement, or have recently retired, examining how this life transition influences physical and mental health, social wellbeing, and everyday life through qualitative interviews. This scholarship-funded opportunity provides hands-on experience in qualitative health and social research, with the successful applicant assisting in the coding and analysis of interview data, data management and organisation, and contributing to research team discussions and interpretation of findings. Students will help identify key themes and insights relating to the opportunities and challenges of retirement while gaining practical experience in qualitative research methods, data analysis, and collaborative research practice.
