Prerequisites
Students should have completed relevant modules including BPS3071. Since only one student will be chosen, the student should be a high achiever and have an interest in doing Honours.
Shortlisted students are required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
Additional details
mRNA Core is an initiative providing mRNA products to a number of researchers in Victoria and nation wide. This project involves the synthesis and formulation of mRNA products which can range from vaccines to gene therapies and others. Students will learn mRNA synthesis, lipid nanoparticle formulation, characterisation and other quality control techniques. In vitro cell culture may also be involved.

Engineering long-acting injectables (Part 1): Interfacial properties of drug nanosuspensions

Prerequisites
Previous laboratory experience is advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided. This project is one of two complementary projects designed to be undertaken collaboratively. Students are encouraged to contact the project supervisor before applying. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a brief interview to discuss their interests, relevant experience, and suitability for the project.
Additional details
Investigate how surfactants influence the performance of long-acting injectable drug nanosuspensions through formulation, particle size analysis and surfactant adsorption. Integrate these data to establish relationships between formulation properties and in vitro drug release.
