These inherent requirements apply to the Bachelor of Psychology (course code M2018) and the following double degrees:

Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Arts (course code M2019)
Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Commerce (course code M2020)
Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Science (course code M2021)

Inherent requirement domains

Your ability to recognise and moderate your behaviour and respond in ways that are appropriate in a diverse range of environments.

How is behavioural insight important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Demonstrate curiosity and initiative to engage in reflective practice and self-directed learning.
- Be receptive to and open to constructive feedback and differences in opinion.
- Retain a professional demeanour and be proactive in managing your response to develop and maintain an appropriate relationship with a diverse range of clients, peers and professionals.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage in a culturally responsive manner.
Your ability to demonstrate professional capabilities, including a commitment to treat people with dignity and respect, and awareness of the limits of your own knowledge, skills and health. You will also be required to comply with applicable law, regulations and any other university codes or policies.

How is professionalism important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Engage respectfully with clients, peers, educators, support staff, and health practitioners from a wide range of orientations, backgrounds and cultures and treat each individual with dignity.
- Weigh up competing ethical principles in a range of situations; and outline an appropriate course of action, in line with good ethical and professional standards.
Your ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a range of audiences including verbal, non-verbal, written and numerical communication.

How is communication important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Understand and respond to verbal and non-verbal communication accurately and appropriately, which meets legal and professional requirements
- Demonstrate the capacity to develop rapport with clients during the provision of care.
- Respond appropriately to cues in professional environments in psychology.
- Communicate effectively in two-way discussions (written and verbal) with a range of different people in a range of different settings.
- Demonstrate the capacity to gather relevant information from and explain interpretations to clients and others
- Demonstrate capacity to conduct assessments in accordance with expected guidelines.
- Convey a spoken message accurately and effectively across all settings.
- Produce accurate, concise and clear documentation in a timely manner while on psychology placement in professional environments.
Your ability to work willingly and cohesively as part of a team, taking responsibility for your actions as well as recognising and respecting the skills of others.

How is teamwork important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with peers, educators, support staff, academic staff, and teams of health professionals, using appropriate verbal and non-verbal skills.
- Be able to negotiate with, direct, or follow directions from a team to meet shared objectives in a timely, equitable way.
Your capacity to locate appropriate and relevant information and your ability to process information relevant to practice and the ability to integrate, reflect on and implement theoretical knowledge in a range of settings.

How is cognition important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Critically appraise, integrate and apply academic knowledge, theory, research evidence, policy and procedures.
- Formulate, develop and test hypotheses in the field of psychology.
- Accurately score, calculate and interpret psychological test and assessment data, write and communicate findings in a manner appropriate for the context/setting.
- Demonstrate the capacity to use person-centred, collaborative and evidence-based approaches in diverse psychology settings.
Your ability to acquire information, carry out a range of tasks and procedures suitable to the required level of capability, and understand and carry out your assigned role in adverse situations.
Subdomains: Fine or gross motor skills; Strength.
How are physical and observational skills important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Effectively build and maintain rapport with a client (including research participants), peer or supervisor in order to achieve outcomes.
- Effectively manage difficulties arising in relationships in diverse psychology settings.
- Take accurate, unobtrusive and effective written notes in diverse psychology settings.
- Remain focussed and provide consistent engagement across education and placement settings.
