How is behavioural insight important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Have the self-awareness and reflection skills required to monitor your own physical and mental health, recognise when you may need help or support and proactively seek it when required. For example, being open to feedback from others when they have observed changes in your health.
- Demonstrate professional behaviour when engaging with individuals in educational, health and community care settings. For example, being receptive and responding appropriately to constructive feedback.
- Have the physical and mental endurance to perform multiple tasks in an assigned timeframe. For example, management of a schedule of classes, learning activities and assignments within an assigned timeframe; management of assigned tasks over a negotiated timeframe while on clinical placement.
- Recognise, interpret and respond appropriately to non-verbal and behavioural cues which can change quickly and often in a health care setting. For example, being able to adapt behaviour, communication or approach in response to cues of pain, discomfort and/or distress.
Your ability to demonstrate professional capabilities, including a commitment to treat people with dignity and respect, and awareness of the limits of your own knowledge, skills and health. You will also be required to comply with applicable law, regulations and any other university codes or policies.

How is professionalism important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Engage respectfully with peers, educators, clients, families and health practitioners with a wide range of orientations, abilities, backgrounds and cultures and treat each person with dignity. For example, handle appropriately sensitive and confidential information in clinical and classroom settings and recognise this extends beyond the teaching environment.
- Weigh up competing ethical principles in difficult situations, such as deciding whether to report if you see someone behaving in a manner not aligned with good ethical and professional standards.
Your ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a range of audiences including verbal, non-verbal, written and numerical communication.

How is communication important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Understand and respond to communication accurately, and in a respectful manner. For example, establishing rapport with clients, families and carers, during interactions in education, health and community care settings and being able to respond promptly to non-verbal or behavioural cues regarding pain, discomfort and/or distress.
- Communicate effectively in two-way discussions with a range of people in different settings and with awareness of individual and cultural differences. For example, gathering information from clients and others and providing clear accounts (verbal and written) of information.
Your ability to work willingly and cohesively as part of a team, taking responsibility for your actions as well as recognising and respecting the skills of others.

You will be required to:

You will be required to:
- Provision safe, effective and timely health care. For example, critically applying knowledge of theory, research evidence, policies and procedures in the practice setting.
- Locating, gathering and accurately interpreting relevant information necessary to complete designated tasks within educational and professional practice environments.
Your ability to acquire information, carry out a range of tasks and procedures suitable to the required level of capability, and understand and carry out your assigned role in adverse situations.

How are physical and observational skills important in this course?
You will be required to:
- Carry out physical and observational procedures within educational and professional practice environments. For example, observing the positioning of clients when performing activities of daily living and/or when using equipment such as a wheelchair.
- Recognise potential safety risks in a client's environment (e.g. falls risk).
- Detect changes in circulation e.g. temperature and anatomical abnormalities to conduct physical assessments safely.
