At Monash, our Journalism specialisation equips you with the creative and technical skills to excel across digital, audio, video, and print media. Get hands-on training in media

As a Monash Journalism student, you’ll dive straight into real-world media experiences in our Media Lab. With access to facilities like a broadcast TV studio, radio studios, a newsroom, and editing suites, you’ll have everything you need to work on a range of media projects. Whether you're producing video reports, writing news stories, creating audio content, or engaging in digital storytelling through data analysis and infographics, you'll be well-equipped to work in any media environment.

Gain industry experience and build a strong portfolio

Our media partnerships give you access to a wide range of internship opportunities at leading outlets like the ABC, Channel 9, The Age, and SBS. These internships are more than just work experience—they’re a chance to build your portfolio, gain valuable industry insights, and connect with experienced media professionals who can help shape your career.

From Publishing to Broadcasting: Create with MOJO News and The Struggle

Through MOJO News, Monash’s student-run publication, you’ll produce journalism that meets industry standards. Guided by experienced journalists, you’ll create content with the potential to be picked up by major outlets like VICE, showcasing your work to global audiences.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to The Struggle, Monash’s student-produced satirical talk show broadcast on Channel 31. The show has received multiple nominations and won several Antenna Television Awards, including Best Journalism in a Program and Personality of the Year, recognising its bold approach to current affairs and student-led production.
