Caroline Raffaela Emery

Monash Mentor Scholarship

Receiving the Italian Australian Foundation Travel Grant (2024) was an absolute privilege. The opportunity to study at the Monash University Prato Centre in November is extremely special as my nonna only attended school until the age of eight in Italy. This scholarship is a way for me to continue her legacy and pursue the education she dreamed of completing. It will enable me to secure my degree, fully master the Italian language, and in turn give back to the Italo-Australian community. My goal is to help all generations fall in love with the Italian language and culture as I have. This incredible investment also allows me to honour the sacrifices and resilience of Italians, like my nonna who migrated post World War II to build a better future and call Australia home.
