Achieving Potential Support Scholarship
Allan and Pam (nee Geals) Stark graduated from Monash University during its first decade of student intakes. They believe advancements in science have multi-disciplinary societal impacts, including economic and political, Pam's field of study. Both came from lower income families and could not have attended university without their government cadetship and studentship respectively. Pam experienced the upheaval of relocating from a country town to university. They attribute their relative success in life to advanced education and hard work, inspiring their establishment of the "Stark and Geals" Scholarship.

Monash Kickstart Scholarship
Moving to a new country with my family was stressful, and it was a difficult decision to make. Coming from a single-income family, most of our stress stemmed from the financial situation we were put in. I am grateful that the scholarship has given me an advantage and has helped me deal with the financial stress of my studies. This scholarship has driven me to work hard and strive for the best. It's easy to let things become stressful; however, I believe great things can be achieved with hard work and the proper support.
Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:
- An Australian citizen
- A New Zealand citizen
- Australian permanent resident
- Australian humanitarian visa holder
You must meet the following criteria:
- Commencing Year 12 student, enrolled or intending to enrol in an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Science at a Monash campus in Australia.
- Must be from the following educational disadvantaged categories:
- Experiencing financial hardship.
- First in family
- Regional and remote areas
Benefits
- $6000 per annum (48 credit points of study) for the duration of your degree.
- $6,000 one-off Monash Relocation Grant.
Number offered
- One scholarship available.
Selection criteria
- Awarded based on need.
To retain this scholarship:
- You must maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50 each semester.
How to apply
- VTAC applicants - If you think you might be eligible for an equity scholarship, ensure that you apply for the VTAC equity schemes (SEAS) to be automatically considered.
- This scholarship cannot be deferred.
