Monash Leaders Scholarship

The Chris Wardlaw PSM OLY Leaders Scholarship be introduced to support financially disadvantaged students undertaking single or double degrees in the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Chris Wardlaw PSM OLY is highly experienced in the government and education sectors and has worked in senior leadership roles in both Australia and Hong Kong. In a parallel sporting career, Chris was also a two-time Olympian in 1976 and 1980 and the Head Coach of the Australian Track and Field Team at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. Chris was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) in the 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honours list and was made a Fellow of Monash University in 2013. Both Chris and his wife Carmel have a strong belief that quality education should be accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic background.

Am I eligible?

You must be one of the following:

  • An Australian citizen
  • A New Zealand citizen
  • Australian permanent resident
  • Australian humanitarian visa holder

You must meet the following criteria:

  • Commencing or continuing undergraduate student enrolled or intending to enrol in an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Business and Economics at a Monash campus in Australia.
  • Commencing students must achieve an ATAR score of 85+
  • Current students must achieve a 80+ WAM and demonstrated leadership potential
  • Demonstrating leadership through community and industry engagement.
  • Experiencing financial hardship.
  • From one or more of Monash University's defined educational disadvantage categories.
  • Participate as an Access Monash Mentor each year, beginning in your second year of study.

Benefits

  • $6000 per annum, for the duration of the degree.
  • An invitation to take part in Monash Minds, a leadership program for first year students.
