Phillips-Gilmore Biomedicine Honours Scholarship
Achieving Potential Scholarship for Excellence
The Phillips-Gilmore Biomedicine Honours Scholarship was established to support high-achieving domestic students enrolling in the Biomedical Science Honours program BBiomedSc(Hons) at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. The scholarship is intended to encourage students to pursue Honours as a pathway to graduate study and a career in biomedical research.

Thanks to the Phillips-Gilmore Biomedicine Honours Scholarship, I fully devoted all my time to my Honours and ensured that I could achieve the best I could. Because of this Scholarship, I could focus on my studies without any financial burden, and I did not have to get a part-time job, which would have diverted the amount of time and effort I could have put into my project. Without this Scholarship, there would have been a lot of opportunities I missed out on.
Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:
- An Australian citizen
- Australian permanent resident
- Australian humanitarian visa holder
You must meet the following criteria:
- Commencing the Biomedical Science Honours program BBiomedSc(Hons) in any Discovery Program or department at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute.
- Enrolled as a full-time student.
- Experiencing financial hardship.
Benefits
- $8,000 for the one-year duration of Honours.
Number offered
- Two scholarships available per year.
Selection criteria
- Applicants will be shortlisted based on grades and financial need, with additional consideration given to other forms of disadvantage.
- The awardees will be determined by a selection panel based on academic achievement and biomedical research aspirations.
To retain this scholarship:
- Recipients must maintain full-time enrolment and demonstrate excellence by achieving a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70 each semester.
