At Monash, we foster a sense of community among our students.
Community means safety, friendship, support and wellbeing. A vital part of preparing yourself for a life of learning, innovation and exploration is the opportunity to meet and learn from one another. This is what living on campus, or in "Res" offers.
For students who live on campus, university life continues beyond the classrooms. Every residence has a long list of activities and engagement programs to help you meet people, stay connected, form study groups and enjoy your time. Friends you make in Res may well become lifelong connections and form part of your social and professional networks well beyond graduation.
We offer a range of on-campus accommodation options at Clayton and Peninsula.
Where you'll live is one of the most important decisions you'll make at university and when it comes to choosing a place to live, everyone's a little different. So we've developed a range of different residential options on-campus.
Traditional Halls of Residence
This is on-campus living at its best – social, supportive, and loads of fun.
You'll have a private bedroom with all the usual facilities including a king-single bed, desk, chair and wardrobe. But here it's all about getting together and sharing the experience. There are shared kitchens and eating areas, as well as communal social rooms and games rooms.
The mascots, the residential programs, the chats, the late-night coffees, the support and the friendships come to life in the stairways, hallways and common rooms of the halls.
Self-contained studio apartments
The buildings are architecturally designed with cleverly planned modern apartments and beautiful shared spaces to study, relax and socialise. And of course they’re all an easy walk to your classes and other on-campus amenities.
The Studio Apartment Hall’s at both Clayton and Peninsula offer accommodation in modern self-contained studio apartments with all the facilities you need including a private en-suite bathroom and kitchenette.
Each floor also has communal kitchens/floor lounges and each hall has a common room and games room so you can still enjoy the social aspects of living in a residential community.
Shared flats and houses
If you have friends you want to share a space with, or you feel a smaller community would suit you, then shared flats and houses are the answer.
At Clayton we have the South East Flats. Most flats have four bedrooms but you can choose a two-, three- or five-bedroom option.
The Peninsula Residential Village contains an exciting group of smaller residences, ranging from 1-8 bedrooms. Each residence is a little different, both in terms of the number of people you'll be living with, and its individual style.
You'll have your own bedroom, and then share the other facilities with your housemates.
