Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) is a professional degree which satisfies the academic requirements for admission to practise as an Australian lawyer. It is also a preparation for diverse careers in and beyond the law, and offers pathways to graduate studies. The course provides advanced and integrated knowledge of the principal areas of legal practice, legal concepts and broader perspectives about the law.

Bachelor of International Relations

The Bachelor of International Relations examines the dynamics of power, governance, conflict, and cooperation at the local, national and global levels.

In this course, you will study how national and global political institutions operate, how and why conflict and cooperation occur, and the role that power, political ideas, material resources, civil society, and historical legacies play in shaping the opportunities and the constraints for political actors, institutions, states and the wider structure of the international system.

You will be taught how to explain and anticipate political behaviour, analyse the impact of political decisions, and to interpret the complexities and the interdependencies of national and international systems in an interconnected and ever-changing world.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

There are many ways to be considered for entry to a Monash University degree depending on your educational background and history. The below options reflect the academic requirements for the different applicant categories (or the highest level of education previously completed) to be considered for this Monash course. All applicants must satisfy equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites or equivalent tertiary units including the English language requirements.

Alternative qualifications and prerequisites

You may be eligible to exit the double degree program and graduate with either a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (L3001) or a Bachelor of International Relations (A2020) after four or three years respectively, depending on the units studied.

If you wish to graduate with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (L3001) prior to the completion of the double degree you must have completed at least 204 credit points of studies, including all of the requirements in Part A, B, C and D for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (L3001) degree.

If you wish to graduate with a Bachelor of International Relations (A2020) prior to the completion of the double degree you must have completed at least 144 credit points of studies, including all of the requirements in Part A, B and C for the Bachelor of International Relations (A2020) degree.
