Occupational and Environmental Health

Graduate diploma

This course gives health professionals the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary to responsibly provide preventive health services to both reduce the health impacts of disease and injury and assist to systematically address hazards arising from workplaces and within communities.

The course caters for the special needs of medical practitioners, nurses, allied health personnel, scientists or OHS managers wishing to develop adaptable and responsible skills as OHS and environmental health practitioners. The course is offered by off-campus learning however compulsory block attendance is required each semester.

An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline.

English requirements

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.

Fees are per 48 credit points which represents a standard full-time course load for a year.

As a full fee-paying student, you may be eligible to apply for the optional FEE-HELP to assist you to pay all or part of your tuition fees.

Alternative qualification

You may be eligible to exit your course early and apply to graduate with the following qualifications, provided you have met the requirements for the qualification during your enrolment in this course:

  • Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health: you’ll need to complete a total of 24 credit points (6 months full time study), with a minimum of 18 credit points at level 4 or above.

If you decide to graduate early, you will need to discontinue from this course. You may be eligible to receive credit for the units you have completed if you re-apply and are re-admitted to this course or apply for another graduate degree at Monash University.
