At Monash, we’re embracing change and helping our students continue their studies - no matter where they are in the world. We’re transitioning existing entry points, developing new intake periods and utilising our global campus network to create flexibility and choice for commencing and current students.
If you’re ready to study now, you don’t have to wait until 2021. Use the Australian summer period to your advantage. With options for both domestic and international students, you'll be sure to find an option that works for you.

Why study over the Australian Summer?
Each year we run a popular Summer semester from November - February. This concludes at the beginning of the academic year in March and gives students the opportunity to complete units outside the standard semesters. It’s a chance to catch-up, get ahead or even to try again if you need to repeat a unit.
This year, we’re expanding our offering to reflect the changing circumstances our students have faced in 2020. If COVID-19 has impacted your plans you can use this time to get back on track, get ahead and get ready for when the academic year officially commences in March 2021.
Am I eligible for Summer study?
How you study and what’s available depends on your circumstances.
Commencing students
If you’re new to Monash you can get a head-start on your studies by choosing our November Intake. If your course is offered you can accelerate your studies by fast-forwarding your degree. You could be up to a semester ahead when the academic year starts in March 2021. Learn more.
You may also be eligible for our Summer semester, which allows you to take specific units that will allow you to get a head start on the 2021 academic year.
Current students
If you’re a current Monash student you can access our Summer semester and November Intake to take units to catch-up, get ahead or even repeat a unit if you need to. We have more than 500 unit offerings available.
Monash College students
Upon successful completion of your Monash College pathway in October, you will be able to progress or transition to the university's November Intake. You don’t need to wait until the academic year starts in March 2021.
Students overseas
If you’re not located in Melbourne right now, there are options available for you to commence or progress high quality degrees across our faculties either through our November Intake or our Summer semester

Whether you're located in Melbourne or elsewhere in Australia, there are options available for you to commence or progress high quality degrees across our faculties.
What support resources are available?
We've always been proud of the support services that we offer our students. Due to the challenges 2020 has presented us, we have transitioned our existing services online and created new resources and services to assist students during this period.
We've introduced virtual drop-in sessions to help students with assignments. You can also book study coaching sessions where you work 1:1 with a study advisor to help refine your study skills and work through challenges.
It's not just about studying support either. We offer a range of counselling services for our students. Worried that you might struggle to adapt to online learning or struggling with the physical distancing measures that this year has required? Online counselling is a great option for students who need someone to talk to.

What are the options?
November Intake
Start your Monash University journey early. By choosing the new November intake, you can fast-forward your degree and be up to a semester ahead when the 2021 academic year commences. This new semester will be delivered online from November 2020 to February 2021. Explore the intake here
If you’re a current Monash student, you can take units in the November Intake period too. Learn more.
Summer semester
If you’re a current Monash student you can continue your studies with our Summer semester. If you've enrolled in the November Intake you may also be able to enrol in units for the Summer semester.
The teaching period is usually much shorter and more intense than in a standard semester, but the overall class hours remain the same. There are no common dates for summer units. Each unit has its own set of dates so the enrolment, teaching and assessment dates vary between units. Learn more.
Can I enrol in both?
It may be possible to choose units from both the November teaching period and Summer semester to tailor a plan unique to you. Given that entry requirements vary across units and faculties it’s recommended that you contact Monash Connect to discuss your course plan in more detail. We’ll work with you to explore your options.
Monash Global Campus Program
If you are located in Malaysia, our new Global Campus Program allows you to start your studies in Malaysia . You can then join your peers in Melbourne, Australia for Semester 2, 2021 and complete your studies in Australia. If you have recently completed your final year of schooling – and meet Monash admissions requirements – you can now start your studies from Malaysia in a select range of courses. Learn more
I’d rather start in March - what are my options?
If you’ve already received an offer, you can enrol for 2021 now. Follow the instructions in your offer. You can learn more about what your first semester looks like here.
If you’re a returning student you can commence Semester one as usual in March 2021. You will be sent an email about re-enrolment for 2021 shortly. You can read more here.
