Summer semester
Each year Monash provides students the opportunity to enrol in units that they might not be able to fit into a normal semester.
The Summer semester is run across the Australian summer season. It includes options for continuing (current) students as well as commencement options for new students.
Students take Summer units for a variety of reasons. Depending on your circumstances you can use the Summer semester to:
- Accelerate your study towards completion of your degree
- Catch up if you've had to take a lighter study load
- Repeat a unit
- Balance your study load for the next academic year
How does it work?
The teaching period is usually much shorter and more intense than a standard semester, but the overall class hours remain the same. For example, instead of attending three hours of class per week for 12 weeks, you might have all day classes for a week.
Another difference is that there are no common dates for summer units. Each unit has its own set of dates so the enrolment, teaching, assessment and academic and financial penalty dates vary between units.
How do I enrol?
