Summer semester

Each year Monash provides students the opportunity to enrol in units that they might not be able to fit into a normal semester.

The Summer semester is run across the Australian summer season. It includes options for continuing (current) students as well as commencement options for new students.

Students take Summer units for a variety of reasons. Depending on your circumstances you can use the Summer semester to:

  • Accelerate your study towards completion of your degree
  • Catch up if you've had to take a lighter study load
  • Repeat a unit
  • Balance your study load for the next academic year

There’s lots to choose from. For the 2020/2021 period there are more than 500 unit offerings available. There’s plenty of flexibility and choice so you can tailor your study to your needs.

It’s important to note that the requirements, dates and study modes differ across units and faculties so you should review the unit details carefully before you enrol to make sure they are the right fit for you. You can always reach out to us if you need help planning or if you have any questions.

If you have enrolled in the November Intake you can also partake in some units available over the summer.

If you’re looking for more options there may also be an opportunity to add units from our new November intake to your course plan. This will depend on your personal circumstances. You can explore the units on offer here.
